The Board of Directors of the Canyon City Foundation announced the recipients of the 2016 award year to a group of Rosedale residents in early October.  The two recipients were the Azusa Parks and Recreation and the Azusa Rotary Club. Both organizations had been previous recipients of grants from the Foundation.

The Rotary Club of Azusa won a seed grant to initiate a Field of Glory-numerous American flags flying on the lawn of the Azusa City Hall.  Members of the Club invited Rosedale residents to sponsor flags in honor or memory of their loved ones who are in the military or serve as a first responders.  The Field of Glory was officially opened on November 5, 2016.

The Azusa Parks and Recreation was granted funds to build upon work in creating a healthier Azusa.  The team at Parks and Recreation shared their work on creating walking trails and fitness areas in the local parks.  The grant would be matched by other funds to procure additional fitness equipment.

Miles Rosedale, Board President stated, “The awards were limited this year due to the large amount of grants in 2015. We look forward to supporting the work of the organizations to ensure that the community of Azusa continues to be enriched by their work”.
